Apologies on the longer than usual delay to reply to this, we actually escalated this with our international jewellery supplier for more clarity here and can see that you published two reviews during this period, so again apologies on the delay.

While this kind of discolouration can form as the result of oxidation, we have been advised that, this can also be caused by a chemical reaction either from an individual’s personal body chemistry, or by coming in contact with foreign substances transferred from a person’s skin; think of something like perfumes. Here, microscopic scratches can form on the surface providing access to the copper and/or silver components of our 10k gold alloy, affecting the visual integrity of the jewellery and resulting in the discolouration you have photographed.

If noticed early enough, this residue can be removed by cleaning with a soft cloth without compromising the appearance of the jewellery, but we understand this is almost impossible as it was within your lobe!

While this is not the response you're likely hoping for, we can assure you this is not a matter of poor quality.
